In Peru worden 1 op de 1000 kinderen geboren met een lip\u2013 en\/of gehemelte spleet (schisis). Deze afwijking is niet alleen een estetisch probleem die opgelost kan worden door enkel een operatie, een multidisciplinair team van (gezondheids)professionals is nodig om de vele bijkomende  problemen te verhelpen of verlichten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schisis veroorzaakt moeilijkheden met spraak, gehoor en voeding, maar ook psychische problemen. Er is in Peru een dringend tekort aan programma\u2019s die een complete behandeling aanbieden, waardoor kinderen in armoede met schisis niet de noodzakelijke zorg ontvangen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sinds 1995 heeft San Lucas Peru een programma voor kinderen met schisis dat ieder jaar 1 of 2 operatieweken organiseert om kinderen met deze afwijkingen gratis te helpen. Naast de chirurgische ingrepen, worden ook tandzorg, orthodontie, spraaktherapie, psychologische ondersteuning en muzieklessen<\/a> gratis of tegen een sterk gereduceerd tarief aangeboden door San Lucas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Door middel van dit multidisciplinaire programma stimuleren wij de kinderen in hun ontwikkeling en geloven wij dat deze kinderen met de juiste en complete zorg kunnen opgroeien als ieder ander kind.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
